Flattened Protostellar Envelope in Absorption around L 1157

چکیده
Deep Spitzer IRAC images of L1157 reveal many of the details of the outflow and the circumstellar environment of this Class 0 protostar. In IRAC band 4, 8 μm, there is a flattened structure seen in absorption against the background emission. The structure is perpendicular to the outflow and is extended to a diameter of ∼2′. This structure is the first clear detection of a flattened circumstellar envelope or pseudo-disk around a Class 0 protostar. Such a flattened morphology is an expected outcome for many collapse theories that include magnetic fields or rotation. We construct an extinction model for a power-law density profile, but we do not constrain the density power-law index. Dust emission from young outflows : the case of L 1157
We present new high-sensitivity 1.3 mm bolometer observations of the young outflow L 1157. These data show that the continuum emission arises from four distinct components: a circumstellar disk, a protostellar envelope, an extended flattened envelope –the dense remnant of the molecular cloud in which the protostar was formed–, and the outflow itself, which represents ∼20% of the total flux. The...
متن کاملASTE Observations of Warm Gas in Low-mass Protostellar Envelopes: Different Kinematics between Submillimeter and Millimeter Lines
With the ASTE telescope, we have made observations of three low-mass protostellar envelopes around L483, B335, and L723 in the submillimeter CS (J=7–6) and HCN (J=4–3) lines. We detected both the CS and HCN lines toward all the targets, and the typical CS intensity (∼ 1.0 K in TB) is twice higher than that of the HCN line. Mapping observations of L483 in these lines have shown that the submilli...
متن کاملThe Flattened, Rotating Molecular Gas Core of Protostellar Jet Hh 212
The recently discovered protostellar jet known as HH212 is beautifully symmetric, with a series of paired shock knots and bow shocks on either side of the exciting source region, IRAS 05413-0104 (Zinnecker et al. 1998). We present VLA ammonia maps of the IRAS 05413-0104 molecular gas envelope in which the protostellar jet source is embedded. We find that the envelope, with mass of 0.2 M⊙ detect...
متن کاملStructure and dynamics of the class I young stellar object L 1489 IRS
Context. During protostellar collapse, conservation of angular momentum leads to the formation of an accretion disc. Little is known observationally about how and when the velocity field around the protostar shifts from infall-dominated to rotation-dominated. Aims. We investigate this transition in the low-mass protostar L1489 IRS, which is known to be embedded in a flattened, disc-like structu...
متن کاملHh 212: Sma Observations of a Remarkable Protostellar Jet
HH 212 is a nearby (460 pc) protostellar jet discovered in H2 powered by a Class 0 source, IRAS 05413-0104, in the L1630 cloud of Orion. It is highly collimated and symmetric with matched pairs of bow shocks on either side of the source. We have mapped it in 850 μm continuum, SiO (J = 8− 7), CO (J = 3−2), SO (NJ = 89−78), HCO + (J = 4−3), and HCO (J = 4−3) emission simultaneously at ∼ 1 resolut...
